198-Carat White Diamond Found In Lesotho
Introduction
Reportedly, last month in July a gigantic 198 carat loose white diamond has been miraculously discovered in the Letseng mine of northern Maluti Mountains in Lesotho which is a small country in South Africa. The much famed Letseng mine already hold the reputation of unearthing atleast 20 world’s flawless gigantic white diamonds till date infact four of the world’s top 20 white diamonds has been brilliantly unearthed here.
Details of the rock
As, claimed by Gem Diamond Ltd. the diamond is type IIA graded with nil fluorescence and looks similar to the size of a strawberry. Gem Diamond’s Chief Executive, Clifford stated that the colossal diamond is indeed going to fetch an unimaginable price. Although, the government of Lesotho already owns the 30 percent of the rock, the mining analysts believes the price of the 198 carat white diamond will indeed come upto nearly $10 million to $15 million easily. Veteran analyst Martin Potts considers that this 198 carat white diamond successfully adds itself to the third largest rough diamond declared this year after the 258.69-carat stone from the Karowe Mine in Botswana and the 239-carat stone next lined up for the tender.
